I'm doing a time capsule. I love the concept but I don't think a lot of the content put into most capsules are relevant to most people I know, as well as a HUGE subset of current youth. So I want to gather culturally significant subject matter...well significant to 'our' specific 'group' of youth. This is sort of my idealised way of preserving out specific niche of alt-culture and culture in general.

Here's where you come in. As a member of said 'sub-culture' (even though I hate that term because nearly all supposed sub-cultures produce all 'mainstream' culture)..anyway, what would you want included? What do you feel is culturally significant? It can really be any medium. From photographs to music. Art to devices and personal items. ANYTHING!

Respond to this message or email me with any response!

Can't Stay The Same

I'm sick of always having to be the one who has to clean up everyones fucking mess. This past month has been hell. I've neglected ALL the things I said I'd do for the co-op, let alone all the other things I want to do.

Fuck that.

I'm done playing the role of a fixer.

See you saturday at the party because no matter what happens, I'm going to fucking be there.

HEY YOU!

Stay in touch with us!

Enormous wine casks form a beautiful Dutch hotel.

from the Inhabitat website via Treehugger:

Ever fallen asleep alongside a good glass of French wine? How about inside a cask of good French wine? TheDe Vrouwe van Stavoren Hotel in the Netherlands
salvaged four wine casks from Switzerland and converted them into rooms. Formerly filled with 14,500 liters of Beaujolais wine from the French chateau, each now holds a modest two-person room with standard amenities and even an attached bathroom and sitting room. Visitors from all around the world have traveled to the quaint northern port town of Stavoren to stay in one of these upcycled rooms.

After fulfilling their duty of adding flavor, color, and tannin to thousands of bottles of wine, the barrels were mounted on trucks and shuttled over to Stavoren. The old oak casks make excellent rooms considering their strength and airtight seals, and also offer a great opportunity to brag to your friends.

General rates for a cask room are from 74-119 Euros (97-157 American) a night with discounts of up to 75% off depending on season. If you go in the wintertime, a wine cask room can be as low as 18 Euros a night, cheaper than most hostels. Breakfast is included and you can even bring your dog.

So my buddy Mike (Rapevan as he is affectionately known) were talking about Tumbleweed Houses the other day and this immediately reminded me of that. Seeing as how I basically live out of 2.5 rooms anyway, these green solutions spark my interest

So a bunch of us here in Orlando have been working pretty diligently to get a bicycle co-op going. Well we finally have the ball rolling and you can read more about it HERE. We have a few fundraisers coming up and it would be awesome if you could check them out and/or spread the word.

First: This coming Saturday (1/17/09), the group of businesses known as The Milk District is having a BBQ that we will be tabling. There will be buttons for sale as well as free (donations PLEASE) tune ups and repairs. We will also provide information about the co-op. Its Noon-7pm Saturday and it will be in the lot behind Beta and Covert (off of robinson behind the TG Lee plant.) Free vegan hot dogs from our lovable vendor, AARON!

Second: THE BIKE HUNX CALENDER. A few of us will be posing for a sexyfied calender (yours truley will be Mr. March) The price is TBA but we will try and keep it cheap, besides how can you put a price on our hot bods? Should come out late Feb.

If you want any info on these goings on please contact me.

Begining of something wonderful?

So I figured I'd start a real blog after some half hearted attempts over the years. It will mostly contain random musings, incoherent rambling, and things I find entertain or relevant. Because, current, I'm recovering from a not-so-fun ear infection I'm going to keep this first post short. Except more entertaining posts in the future.

And so this post isn't completely boring here is a picture of a dog dressed like an airplane.
